When we think of dieting and changing our habits for the better; most of us immediately turn to food. However, the drinks we ingest can be just as important for our health and can have a big impact on us every day.

This is why today we want to talk about some of the best drinks for you to add to your diet this year that will hold nutritional value and help you stay healthy and strong.

Lemon Water

Water is the most crucial drink of all for our bodies because it makes up almost 70% of our total body mass. Water is important for many functions of the body and we need to drink some everyday to stay healthy. Lemon water is a step up from regular water as it contains lemons that are full to the brim with Vitamin C and other minerals and vitamins the body needs. Lemon water when drank 30 minutes before breakfast can flush out toxins from the body and will kick start your metabolism and help you burn fat more efficiently. It is a great drink to start the day with and will improve your skin, allow you to lose weight, and make you feel more energised.

Tea

Tea comes in many brilliant forms and they all have some brilliant properties for the body. Tea can be brilliant for helping the immune system fight off diseases and it can also ward off serious illnesses such as heart disease and cancer. Regularly enjoying tea can improve your health and well-being no end. If you don't want the caffeine - try the best tea alternatives to get similar benefits.

Beet Juice

Beets are bright red in colour and are packed full of antioxidants as well as other essential minerals and vitamins. Beets are incredibly good for you and beet juice is packed full of magnesium, nitrates, and folic acid. Nitrates can be converted into nitric oxide in the body which helps to lower blood pressure as well as improve blood flow to improve performance during a workout.

Kombucha

Kombucha has become incredibly popular in the last few years and it is no surprise why. Kombucha is full of probiotics that are great for the gut. It is a fermented drink that helps to aid in digestion and can also facilitate the body with absorbing different vitamins and minerals. If you are struggling with bloating or your digestion this is a great thing to try and it will likely settle your gut.

Red wine

Let me start off by saying…if you don’t drink - there is no need to start. Alcohol brings with it many more problems for human beings, than benefits. With that being said however; if you do partake, then you will get the most benefit from drinking red wine. Red wine is different than white or rose as it is contains multiple antioxidants and may help aid in digestion. Enjoying a 5 oz glass of red wine with your evening meal may have some health benefits for you if you are also following a healthy diet and lifestyle. Remember, too, that domestic red grapes have some of the highest pesticides of any produce in the United States; and a concentrated source of pesticides may override any of the antioxidant benefits of red wine. If having a domestic wine, opt for organic if possible. If you are having an imported wine, conventional is okay to have. And remember, if drinking, always do so in moderation.

Cheers!
